Steve Hears the short story on the man beneath the cowboy hat and flashy country clothing. Well I am not from out west and was actually born and raised right hear in northern Illinois. I'm not really a cowboy and don't wear the boots and hat much outside of the club. My first exposure to country dancing occurred when my class reunion was held at the Sundance Saloon. I started dancing like many current customers by just taking advantage of the free lessons. I was pleased to find that unlike most bars the sundance offered a diversity of people.who liked country music and dancing. I still remember how difficult it was to learn the dance steps and never imagined I would at some point be a instructor. Within just a couple years after taking the first lesson I was teaching and deejayn' full time between several country night clubs including: Sundance Saloon,Southern Star, Tripple Jays, and Buffalo Bar and Grill. I had a great ride while it lasted and many country bars have come and gone. I'm happy to say I will soon be celebrating my 8th year teaching exclusively for the Sundance and have always considered it my home. Oh, almost forgot, bullet points on Steve Miller the person: single born again Christian who loves to dance, laugh and lead a life with a positive attitude. Hope to see you on the dance floor....its Huge so it may take a few times around!

Scott Slingshot Scott: Here’s the long & short story about the man that loves to dance the “Funky Cowboy”: I was raised primarily in Mchenry County and enjoyed all forms of music (Country, Rock, Hip Hop, Jazz, Rap, ect.). I remember watching my parents in “Jitterbug and Swing” competitions when I was real young. I’ve loved dancing ever since. I’ve learned many different styles as I was grew up (Jitterbug, Swing, Hip Hop, Break Dancing, Ball Room, and most recently Country Line dancing). I started line dancing at a bar that was located in McHenry called “No Bull” back in 91. After about 6 months the bar manager asked me if I had done any DJ’ing before. I told her that I had at a local roller rink while I was in High School. She asked me if I would like to fill in for their DJ that night. I did and by the end of the night the owner of the club offered me a job DJ’ing 2-3 nights a week. Shortly after that I met Pete Roberts who was DJ’ing at “Sundance”. Pete & I became good friends and he mentored me at DJ’ing for a country dance club. Early, back in 94, “No Bull” closed its doors. Shortly after that, Pete invited me to come to work at Sundance as security & to fill in for him from time to time. A few months later, I became head of security with a friend of mine named Dennis Draper. During the year that I was head of security at “Sundance”, I worked as a DJ at “Longhorn” in Lake Geneva and then “Whiskey River” in Chicago, and still filled in for Pete at Sundance from time to time. About 2 months before Art Lake purchased “Sundance” from its previous owner, I left “Whiskey River” and was given 2 nights to DJ at “Sundance”. I’m happy to say that I’m now celebrating my 11th year as one of the two main DJ’s at the “Sundance Saloon” and my 13th year as a Sundance employee. I have met so many wonderful & interesting people over the last 15 years by being a DJ and I hope to meet many more in the years to come. I hope to see you all soon, on the huge “Sundance Saloon” dance floor. If you would like to contact him, you can either email him at Scott@freeitnet.comfor come say hi to him the next time you’re at Sundance.
